Generator work is where sizing matters most. Undersize the unit and it stalls the first time the well pump and the air conditioner start together. Oversize it and you have paid thousands for capacity you will never use. We measure your real load in Ideal before recommending anything.

Local details
Ideal sits in Macon County, and the properties we work on there run the full range from newer construction to houses that have been added onto several times over the decades. That matters for generators work, because the condition of the existing service equipment and wiring determines how straightforward the job is.
We look at what is actually there before quoting. That means opening the panel, testing rather than assuming, and telling you plainly if the scope is smaller or larger than you expected.
Scheduling in Ideal is usually same-day or next-day for repairs, and within the week for planned installations. Emergency calls are dispatched around the clock on (866) 651-5242.
Where the work needs a permit — service changes, new circuits, generator and EV charger installs — we file it with the authority having jurisdiction over Macon County, meet the inspector, and give you the signed paperwork afterwards.
Reviews
Surge protector at the panel after we lost a TV and the modem to a storm. Cheap insurance, installed in under an hour.
Ray L.Surge protection · Ideal, GANew circuits for the garage freezer and the shop vac so I stop popping the same breaker. Simple job, done right.
Jerome A.Dedicated circuits · Ideal, GAGenerator install went exactly as quoted. They walked me through the transfer switch twice and left a laminated card by the panel with the startup steps.

It depends on what must keep running. A unit covering essentials such as the refrigerator, well pump, furnace blower, internet and a few lighting circuits is far smaller than one carrying central air and an electric range. We total your real demand on site and recommend the smallest unit that comfortably does the job. Call (866) 651-5242.
Most residential installs in Ideal take one to two days on site once the unit and permit are in hand. Gas line work, pad curing and the inspection can spread that across a week or two of calendar time.
If outages are frequent, if anyone in the house depends on powered medical equipment, if you have a well or a sump pump, or if you are away from home often, automatic standby earns its cost quickly. If outages are rare and short, an inlet and interlock for a portable unit gives most of the benefit for a fraction of the price.
Yes, and it is one of our most common generator jobs in Macon County. We install the inlet, the interlock or transfer switch and the labeling so you can power circuits safely without backfeeding the utility line.
Yes. They exercise themselves weekly but still need oil, filters, battery checks and a load test annually. A generator that has not been serviced in five years usually does not start when you finally need it.
It can, with the right size unit and gas supply. Many customers in Ideal choose a mid-size unit with load management instead, which sheds the air conditioner briefly when the well pump kicks on. It costs less and the difference is barely noticeable.
